Changes to Floating Bridge Closure Timings in Dubai
Revised Timelines for Weekdays and Weekends
Dubai, January 12, 2022 - In line with the updated weekend holiday schedule in the UAE, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has announced revised closure timings for the Floating Bridge. The new operating hours will take effect as follows:
Weekday Closures
From Monday to Friday, the Floating Bridge will close from 10 pm to 6 am the following day, adhering to the usual timings.
Weekend Closures
Over the weekends, the bridge will be closed from 10 pm on Saturday until 6 am on Monday, accommodating the new weekend holiday. The bridge closure is designed to facilitate maintenance and technical testing.
Easing Traffic Congestion
The Floating Bridge is an integral part of RTA's strategy to alleviate traffic congestion in Dubai. It connects Deira and Bur Dubai and has a capacity to accommodate approximately 3,000 vehicles in each direction during peak morning and evening hours, effectively reducing congestion on the Al Maktoum Bridge by an estimated 37%.
