Lightning Close in on Sweep in Dominant Win Over Panthers

Backstopped by Vasilevskiy, Tampa Bay Takes 3-0 Series Lead

Tampa, FL -

The Tampa Bay Lightning are one win away from their third straight Stanley Cup Finals after a dominant 5-3 victory over the Florida Panthers on Sunday night at Amalie Arena. Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy turned in arguably his best performance of the season, making 31 saves and denying the Panthers' potent offense time and again.

Aleksander Barkov and Carter Verhaege each had two goals and an assist for Florida, but it was not enough to overcome the Lightning's relentless attack. Nikita Kucherov, Steven Stamkos, Brayden Point, and Victor Hedman also scored for the Lightning, who have now won nine straight playoff games.

The Panthers will host Game 4 of the series on Tuesday night, but they will need to find a way to generate more offense against a Lightning team that has been nearly impenetrable in the playoffs thus far.
